TURN-AROUND but don't look for something, The eye cannot see itself.

83. Jesus said,
"Images are visible to people, but the light within them is hidden in the image of the Father's light. He will be disclosed, but his image is hidden by his light."

To me these saying is also a comment on portraying the 'Heavenly Father' in the form of an ancient icon for instance. Suppose the speaker was watching such an icon, being face to face to it or better being Face to no-Face to it. Then the saying translates as follows:

People are aware of images, but the light of Awareness that's seeing is hidden in the representation of Awareness as the Father. It will be disclosed but the Image of Awareness cannot be seen because It is what's doing the seeing. This logion is so compact and yet says it all. Not only the message is pure non-dualism it is also very beautifull like a Möbius figure, it goes round and turns the known 180° . It goes like this IMAGE(light hidden by image)-turn-around-LIGHT(image hidden by light). He was known for these turn-arounds. Maybe that's the meaning of 'Metanoia' To me this logion also says that the 'image' is It too. It is not to be found in the graven images, but in the light 'as wich' and 'in wich' it appears. So in that sense you find it just as much in the graven images as in what you find if you split wood or lift up a stone. Beauty and Truth bubling up intertwined directly from the source!! You have to jump into it , to understand it. Strange to think that 'somebody' spoke this 'out of this world' words 2000 years ago. Who could understand him? I can understand why the catholic church could never grasp this. "Alone the 'Alone' can enter the bridalchamber." Do you agree about the meaning or do you have another translation? Do you see it as beautifull too.?

Wat je zou kunnen vertalen als:
Voorstellingen zijn zichtbaar voor mensen, maar het licht van 'Gewaarzijn' dat ze ziet is verhuld in de voorstelling ervan. Het zal onthuld worden, maar het 'Gewaarzijn' ontsnapt aan elke voorstelling waarvan het het licht zelf is.

Juist door de alomtegenwoordigheid lijkt het verborgen:

"It will not come by watching for it. It will not be said, 'Look, here!' or 'Look, there!' Rather, the Father's kingdom is spread out upon the earth, and people don't see it."

De symmetrie van gezegde 83 doet me denken aan volgende uitspraak van Meister Eckhart:

For whoever seeks God (consciousness) in some special way, will gain the way and lose God who is hidden in the way.But whoever seeks God without any special way, finds Him as He really is... He (consciousness) is Life itself.~ Meister Eckhart ~(13th century)

Ik zie in logion 83 een overeenkomst met het gezegde ‘the eye cannot see itself’ en in betekenis zegt het niet naar de vinger te zien (de beeltenis van de Vader) maar te zien naar waar verwezen wordt (het licht dat aan elke objectivering ontsnapt).

Such messages cannot be understood, until they are; they have no relation to anything known to man! Beauty and truth intertwined bubbling up from the Source itself.

Awareness itself cannot be represented, it is in a sense 'hidden' because it is the 'light' wich sees and that cannot be objectified !

Or in other words:

Imagine yourself 'face to no-face' with an ancient icon of the Heavenly Father personifying the 'Light': Then logion 83 translates as: All images (even those representing God) appear as reflections that are in and of the mirror of immediate Seeing. Everything is contained in the light of immediate SEEING. SEEING is happening, IT cannot be located.
